I strongly support this idea. I believe that if someone is eating plant based food they are more open to the ideas and images of animal suffering because they are no longer participating in that. There is less cognitive dissonance resistance and less of a guilty defiance. Of course plant based eating for health does not involve the same level of total commitment but still cracks open the door to the truth.

This. I was an ethical vegetarian in my early years but fell off the wagon due to a number of factors. When my health started to decline, that was what brought me to plant based eating and eventually helped me reignite and deepen my ethics around animals. Now I’m a committed vegan.
