Remembering the time I told my doc I was vegan and she asked if I'm in a cult. Lady, you're the one who's in a cult!

Exactly. Eating animals despite overwhelming evidence of the harm it causes—to our health, the planet, and innocent lives—is the real cult. It’s called Carnism, and it’s based on blind obedience, denial, and violence wrapped in tradition. Choosing compassion isn’t cult behavior, it’s breaking free.

Med schools teach very little about nutrition, the average is within one class out of four years of education. Most nutrition textbooks are biased with "research" that was funded by the mega corporations of meat, dairy, and eggs. "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing." Your doctor suffers from the Dunning-Kruger effect "a cognitive bias where individuals with low competence in a specific area overestimate their abilities." I'd find a better doctor.

Well said. Most med schools barely scratch the surface on nutrition, often just a single elective buried in four years of training. Worse, much of that content is industry funded nonsense. Meat, dairy, and egg lobbyists have deep pockets and no shame. That is why so many doctors, well meaning as they may be, confidently give outdated or harmful advice. The Dunning Kruger effect is real, especially when doctors mistake authority for expertise in areas they were never trained in. If your doctor dismisses nutrition or plant based diets out of hand, it might be time to find one who actually studies the evidence.
