Of course, everyone should be vegan now. But that's not going to happen. Oh, how I wished everyone had become vegan when I did in 1976. If Meatless Mondays is an entry point for aspiring vegans to become vegan, well, what's so wrong with it? People are diverse. They make different journeys to becoming vegan.
Veganism is the goal, but people take different paths. Meatless Mondays or cutting back on animal products can be stepping stones. Encouragement works better than judgment. Yes, it’s an ongoing discussion, and opinions vary, but every step toward reducing harm matters. Progress over perfection.
Dr. Richard Oppenlander said that when you do Meatless Mondays you are helping to destroy the Planet 6 days a week instead of 7. We don't really have a lot of time left to do this. We really need to stop the destruction NOW. Go Vegan!
Dr. Richard Oppenlander makes a critical point—reducing harm one day a week isn’t enough when the planet is in crisis. However, small steps can lead to bigger change. While we urgently need systemic shifts, encouraging Meatless Mondays may open the door for more people to go fully vegan. The goal is total transformation, but we must also meet people where they are. 🌱
I guess it's positive that meat-free meals are normalised by this campaign, but it really baffles me that it takes effort for some people to have just 3 meals without meat per week.
It’s great that meat-free meals are becoming more normalized, but it’s mind-blowing that some people struggle to go just one day without eating animals. With so many delicious plant-based options available, it really highlights how deeply ingrained meat consumption is in society. If skipping meat for three meals is a challenge, imagine how disconnected we’ve become from the reality of what we eat. 🌱
